Karachi: Frere Hall is one of the well-preserved buildings from the days of the British Raj. It was built (1863) in honor of Sir Henry Bartle Edward Frere (1815-1884), who was known for promoting economic development in Karachi. Around the Hall were two lawns originally known as 'Queen's Lawn' and 'King's Lawn. These were renamed as Bagh-e-Jinnah(Jinnah Garden) after independence.
