The team included a Pakistani member, Colonel Muhammad Ata-ullah, Italian climber Walter Bonatti and Pakistani porter Mahdi, who proved vital to the expedition's success in that they carried oxygen to 26,600 feet for Lacedelli and Compagnoni.
